Yes, God can be conceived as the One sustaining humans. But how can God be conceived as the One sustaining "human destiny" when the destiny is not a material object? Please guide me. Thanks.

Hi, 'Sustain' does not have to be used only for material objcets. The idea is to maintain/support//encourage. eg Her husband went away to war.
