Is the underlined a natural phrase?

He went psycho when he heard the news. (became extremely angry)

Mr. Tom went psycho The phrase is natural enough, but I would not take it to mean 'become extremely angry'. I would take it as 'begin to act extremely erratically', not necessarily violently, but as if out of his mind.
