Go or Come

I have been wondering whether I should use come or go. To me when I hear the word GO, I think of THERE and come and I think of HERE.

However, most of the time I watch American movies, I hear they say "Don't move stay there! I will come to you." For me, in such situation I would say " "Don't move stay there! I will go to you."

Can anyone help explain to me which one is the proper use.

Thank you in advance,
