I only heard how the "go on" expression is used with a meaning "to continue doing something". For instance:

Boris: I have a job for you.
Sol: I already have a job.
Boris: Fifty grand for half a day's work.
Sol: Go on. (Sol is now interested in Boris's offer and he'd like Boris to continue)
