Go nuts

Hi, I have got something unclear in its meaning and it is '' going nuts''.

- My phone went nuts

('' out of whack or out of order'' could be a substitute for this ?)

- He went nuts when I said something offensive to him.

( get angry or upset could be a replacement for this ?)

What is the difference in the meaning between '' going nuts'' used with somebody and that with something?

Another question goes to '' go blank'' involving its meaning. what i wonder is if that means '' go out of order or break down when it is used with something.

- My phone goes blank (does it mean '' break down"?)
