Go? Gone? Uh-oh...

Hi,
the verb "to go" is driving me crazy. I basically don't understand how to use it in different situations.

If I say "Mary has gone to the Canarian Islands", does it mean she's still away and she's not back yet?
If I say "Mary went to the Canarian Islands", does it mean she's back now?

Let's suppose Mary left a few days ago. She is going to stay in the Canarian Islands for two weeks, so now she's away and she's going to get back in about a week. Do I have to say:
She's gone to the Canarian Islands.
She went to the Canarian Islands.
She's gone to the Canarian Islands for two weeks.
She went to the Canarian Islands for two weeks.
She's gone to the Canarian Islands a few days ago.
She went to the Canarian Islands a few days ago.

Thanks Emotion: smile
PS: American English please, in case there were any differences. Emotion: smile

She has gone to the Canarian Islands a few days ago.

I think only 'went' should be used. She went to the Canarian Islands a few days ago.
