Go faster than the bus

Here is a situation. Is it correct to say 'can't go faster than the bus'?
Someone calls a person that riding the bus. They are supposed to meet up, the person is late. The person on the phone say: Where are you?
Bus lady : I'm on the bus. I'll be there shortly.
Person waiting : Hurry up
Bus lady: I'll get there when I get there. I can't go faster than the bus.
