Go back to whatever rock he had been hiding under

Hi,
Pleas explain the line in bold below:
John said that Ted had gotten what he asked for and asked Ted to go back to whatever rock he had been hiding under.

April said Mandy didn't understand what she had just done because no one had ever loved Mandy, so Mandy didn't know how it felt to love someone and have it ripped away from you.

Mandy said she didn't want to kill April, because the police did man hunts for murderers.

Thanks.

Anonymous whatever rock he had been hiding under. To "hide under a rock" can mean a couple of things, depending on the context. The non-judgmental meaning is someone who is isolated and uninvolved in the daily world.
