"glyph", "pictograph" and "Hieroglyph"

Hi, I'm confused by those words. Does "glyph" mean "word" or "character" ? and what's the difference between "pictograph" and "hieroglyph"? is "hieroglyph" a kind of "pictograph", which was used in ancient Egypt?

Thanks a lot.
