GKS SCHOLARSHIP - MOTIVATION AND REASON TO STUDY IN KOREA - REVIEW AND CORRECT MY MISTAKES

Even though I belong to a low-income family in South India. But my parents ensured that my sister and I get good education. So, they put us in an English medium school. As a kid I was very timid, never socialised in public. This continued till I graduated high school. Choosing commerce as my major in bachelor’s helped me overcome my fear of socialising. I was exposed to various events like business quizzes, business exhibitions and conferences though I did not get any prizes I was able to gain the confidence to speak in public. I learnt that be it Business, trade or commerce is not just about making profits, for a business to stay in market for a longer period it must have healthy communication both within the organisation and with the consumers.

I always wanted to study in Korea, language being a barrier I thought of leaning basic Korean and I have completed an online course First Step Korean offered by Yonsei University through Coursera. During my final year in my bachelor’s degree, I got merit prize for commerce which motivated me to apply for master’s program in developed country like South Korea. The way Koreans value education, innovation and business relationship are outstanding. The kind of education and exposure Korea provide would equip me in the various trends in field of commerce which will later be an advantage for me and the organisation I represent. I can speak four languages, three Indian languages and English if given this opportunity to study in Korea I would master Korean too
