Given that is

I read an English language novel which had the following line:

"It's strange given that is had been there for days."

What does that mean or is it simply a typo (and "is" should be replaced with "it")? Does the sentence make any sense at all with "is"?

No, it doesn't. There should be 'it'. Unless we are talking of 'is' as an item, but still it should be marked so.

  • Somebody wrote 'is' on that wall yesterday.
  • But that would be very very strange!
