a. what's the difference between given that (a clause) and provided/providing that (a clause)?

b. Is in that the same as because?

c. Is meanwhile synonymous with in the mean time?

"Given that" means "given the fact that", so it's the same meaning as "because".

"Providing/provided that" means "providing that a condition is filled", so it's more "in the case", or "if".

Yes, at least in most cases. "In that" introduces explanatory information. I'm trying to think of a use for "because" where "in that" would not work, and not thinking of one. I'm sure someone else can come up with one though. He's a pleasure to have aro
