Are there any differences between "give up" and "relinquish"? For example, "The country gave up nuclear weapons" and "The country relinquished nuclear weapons". Thank you in advance!

give up stop using something or stop doing something
eg She gave up chocolate eg He gave up swimming.
This is a very common verb.
