Give sb/sth into the care of someone else

Hello,

Does "She had to give her son into the care of her best friend for two weeks" sound okay? Her son's only going to spend two weeks at her friend's, so I am not sure if that's the best thing to say. I am probably wrong but to me that sounds like her best friend is going to adopt her son. (which is not the case) I don't know, though. Emotion: smile

Thank you.
