'give out' doesn't mean produce?
Hi all
Somehow I've always thought that 'give out' can be used in the same way as 'produce'.
As in, 'the fan produces/gives out white noise'.
However, I just found out in the dictionary that 'give out' actually means something else and that 'give' means 'produce'.
Since I think I've heard people using 'give out' to mean produce, I would appreciate if you could tell me if it's natural to use 'give out' this way?

I think I'll stick to either 'produce' or just 'give' since the dictionary doesn't seem to suggest that 'give off' would be used with sound. People may have used it wrongly.
