"Give me an idea!"
I was having a coffee at a coffee shop, a dive in an industrial section of town that I figured was safely distant from anybody I might know (sometimes, I like to hide. Hey, we all have our quirks). Out of the blue, the coffee shop's owner introduced me to a film producer who was buying coffee and sandwiches to go, and mentioned that I write screenplays.
The producer looked at me and said, "Give me an idea!" I was a little taken aback and just smiled awkwardly. The producer then made a buzzing noise, saying "Buzz! Time's up!" then left without saying goodbye. The coffee shop owner looked at me angrily and shook her head, like I'd just blown it. Geez, I was just peacefully having a coffee at this dive, and not in any idea-pitching mode.
