From here on out, you'll need to survive by your wits, not a paycheck that appears every two weeks without question. The hours may be long and the pay may be meager as you start out.

The basic idea is that you will no longer have the security of receiving a regular paycheck every two weeks.

When you work for regular wages ($30 per hour / $4000 per month) at least until you get fired, you can always count/depend on that money coming in regularly, often even when you're sick, or when the company is having bad times or when you really ***** up a job and cost the company more than you're worth. Somebody hands or mails you a check every pay period.

When you're working as a private consultant, you may have to go looking for each short job, and may have periods when no one seems to need your services. Maybe a client will go bankrupt and not pay you, or maybe you'll ***** up a contract and the customer will sue you for more than you'll ever make.
