Give an inch idiom

I work extra hours because I want to leave a good impression on my boss, but the more hours Iput in, the more work he gives me. He's never asked me to work extra hours, but I do because I want to make sure I do a good job. Would it be correct to say that sometimes I feel i'm giving an inch and he's taking a mile? Thanks
