Give a sleeping schedule/pattern

Is the verb "give" correct in this context? Does one give a baby a sleeping schedule? Is schedule or pattern correct?

I've been trying to give my 6 month old baby a sleeping schedule/pattern. I can't get him to sleep and wake up at around the same hours. I'm having a hard time getting the baby used to a sleeping schedule /pattern.

Thanks and happy new year

Give just doesn't sound right to me. I think you would put the baby on a sleeping schedule or establish a sleeping schedule for the baby.
