Gift inscription

As part of my job, I have been asked to write a gift inscription in English for a book. The person who is giving this book does not know the receiver. It is a very formal situation and it is the first time they meet. They both work for maritime related organizations.

Could you please give me some ideas?

"To Mr. XX from Mr. YY, on the occasion of the International Maritime Symposium."

After that, I would add place and date.

Any comments? Most of all I want to be sure that this is culturally correct.
Ah! Mr. YY's organization is hosting the symposium.

Thank you in advance ;-)

After that, I would add place and date-- This is fine. You might want to add something like "in gratitude for his generous contribution / his keynote speech / etc."

If you post a revision, I'll check it again.

I added one sentence. Would you be so kind to revise it, please?

"To Admiral XX from Captain YY, on the occasion of the International Maritime Symposium. Hoping that mutual understanding contributes to stregthen cooperation between our nations.

City, October 2009."

Thank you in advance ;-)
