A ghetto is a part of a town where people are forced to live because they have a particular ethnic background

The word comes from 16th century Italy, when Jewish people were made to live in one part of town

The word is later used for the **** policies in the 1930's in Eastern Europe

It is also used by Black Americans who, long after the abolition of slavery, were made to live in certain parts of American towns
