A man in some movie calls his mother ( or grandmother? ) G.G.?

What can this mean?

That she is a terrible nag, ha ha!

Probably just an affectionate diminutive, possibly specific to the characters-- 'gramma', 'gigi'. We used to call our great-grandmother 'maw-maw', even when we grew older.
