Gettysburg??

Hello,

Please tell me what the author is implying here:

On the other hand, the sophomores in high school could not seem to get enough of the intrigue of Hamlet and the horror of Gettysburg.

I don't know what horror is bound to Gettysburg, is it the war or is it believed to be haunted or what? I've been searching but I got confused and it seems that it's a cultural matter. At first I thought it was a novel or a play but I found nothing on the net to prove it.

Please help me.

Thank you.

Try a search for

Gettysburg Wikipedia

at Yahoo and you'll find:

so the author meant the battle.

then he is talking about history not literature only.

Thank you so much.

(and yes, I read that article on wikkipedia but I wasn't sure)
