Getting to stop washing

Hi

Of course, unlike Daniel getting to stop washing windows once the actual training begins, you're going to have to make clearing clutter a lifelong pursuit.

An author of a book makes a reference to the Karate Kid movie and says that Daniel's master, before he started teaching him karate made him wash the windows. I'm not sure if the phrase "getting to stop washing" means that he stopped washing only for the time when he was taught karate or that he stopped washing at all and never did it again later?

Top answer

I'd say that Daniel was relieved of the duty of washing windows once his training began, and the he did not have to wash them ever again. "You", however, is going to have to clear clutter for the rest of his life.
