"Getting cold" or "cold"?

Which sentence is correct? Should I say: " My getting cold is related to the air pollution"? Or should I say:" My cold is related to the air pollution"?

Are you cold, i.e., not warm, or do you have a cold, i.e. an infection in the nose and throat??

Supposing you're speaking of a common illness, both are fine. In the first, however, I'd say 'catching a cold' instead of 'getting cold'.
