Get/Got

Hello

Im currently taking my CELTA course and have to give a lesson on 'get/got' from the following sentences. Can somebody help?

'get rid of'
'get on with'
getting to know'
'got to'
'get in touch'
'got a reply'
'got really excited'

What activity could i do to get this across.

Thanks

Problem I see here is with the word 'got' you have to be careful. It is used incorrectly now, and so often. I have to go, now.

I have to go, now.

Not "I got to go, now."

I got a reply in the mail.

When they won, I got really excited.

I'm not really sure what you need. Could you please be more specific?

Here is a short story. Perhaps you could do a skit.
I was just getting to know the new boss and discovering that he was really hard to get on with. When I was chatting with my friend on the phone he rudely told me to hang up and get on with my work. So I told my friend "I've got to go now. I'll get in touch with you later after work."

Do you have to use them all in one lesson?

Hello

Thanks for your reply

Im going to work with three of the expressions.

'Get rid of'

Get on with'

Get in touch'

Im going to explain what these phrases mean and then get them using them. What i need is help on what problems with form they may have. Just want to be prepared in case problems arise.

Thank you any help would be greatly

I'd start with get in touch with and end with get rid of, sandwiching the more difficult one in between!

You might use Google as inspiration. Find out the various contexts in which these expressions are used.

Google "get in touch with" (with the quotation marks), then "get on with", then "get rid of". You may have to try those with "gets", "getting", "got", and "
