GET YOUR HAT AND COAT

Dear Teachers,

1. Yes, you can tell your boss to talk to the hand and blow her off. However, in my point she has a valid point if you are not doing your job the company should not have to pay you. I will be hard nosed about this and say if you were my employee, I would ask you to get your hat and coat.

- Do "talk to the hand" and "get your hat and coat" have figurative meanings in this context?

Thanks very much to Teachers,

Stevenukd.

html is an idiom, meaning "I'm not going to listen to you" (I think it's an impolite thing to say, but I'm not a native, so... ). As for "get your hat and coat", I'd take it to mean "go away", leave the company they work for (quit the job, resign).
