Get used to or Habit

Howdy !

I have a friend at university who makes a lot a blunders when he speaks English . I try to rectify his mistakes, but he calls me nitpicker !

He sent me this text message :

You are getting used to nitpicking !

I said he had made another mistake and he should have said :

You are making a habit of nitpicking !

But he wont admit that he has made a mistake .

Which one of us is right ?

You are getting used to nitpicking ! You are making a habit of nitpicking ! Your way is the correct (idiomatic) way to express what he probably means, but his way is not incorrect.

  • You are getting used to nitpicking !
  • You are making a habit of nitpicking !
  • Your way is the correct (idiomatic) way to express what he probably means, but his way is not incorrect.
  • Between native speakers who are friends, the implication would probably be that you're starting to like this habit.

Thanks for your answer.

But I think when sb says ''I'm getting used to nitpicking'' he or she means that others are nitpicking and he or she is getting used to their behaviour .

Maybe a native speaker could clarify .

IMHO, to convey this meaning, a native speaker would specify, I'm getting used to your nitpicking.

Thus far, your context has been a one-on-one relationship. T

I'm getting used to your nitpicking; it doesn't bother me any more.

I'm getting used to nitpicking (I'm doing the action, I'm accustomed to it by now - but it sounds odd with this sitation: more logical is "I'm getting used to the cold weather in this part of the country").

Avangi(I've already conceded that this is not the most common BLOCKED EXPRESSION
I wish I could remember what I wrote. I'm sure it wasn't bad.

That was really odd, Avangi! There was no bad word, just 'expression'. I tried to edit it twice to no effect. The third time I put spaces between the word, the period, and the parenthesis and it finally came out right. Strangest glitch I've ever seen!
