Get (to) see

"On Tuesday we got (to) see that immorality isn’t just a vague thing people talk about in Sunday school."


The sentence above is from NY Times.

I think there should be "to" between "got" and "see" but there's not.


I know we say "I got to see something" , but I never saw a sentence without "to" as in this sentence.


Can someone explain?
