I wasn't able to find this usage in the dictionary. Could you tell me whether this is commonly said?

I got to the realisation that I would never become a professional singer.

Thank you

I came to the realisation that I would never become a professional singer.

Is 'I realized that... ' better?

"Crossed my mind" is different. It means more like "occurred to me", and "it came to me" is more like you unconsciously figured it out. "I realized that" works, but it would need support from the surrounding text more than "I came to the realization".

It's more common to say "I came to realize," or "I came to the realization" rather than "I got to the realization".
