get + to-infinitive

Hi, all.

As you've probably guessed, my question's about the construction "get + to-infinitive". Actually, I just wanted to make sure I'm getting it right. So, for example, let's take this sentence:

People usually don't get to see this.
Does it mean something like "People usually don't have the chance to see this, you're a very lucky guy"?

Are there any other meanings of this expression besides "to have the chance to do smth" or "to succeed in doing smth"?

Thanks in advance.

In any case, what you "get" is something positive: the thrill, the favor, the honor, the excitement, the amusement, ... -- feelings of that nature -- or rather, the opportunity to feel them. It's rather vague exactly what one gets!

People usually don't get to see this ~ People usually don't get the opportunity to feel the pleasure/thrill/excitement of seeing this.
