Get tight in the game

Hi,

What does it mean to ‘get tight in the game’ in the context of a tennis match?

Does it have something to do with one of the players reducing the lead the other player has or is it more about the player in question applying more effort to win the game?

“I had to get tight in the second game after having a bit of a slow start.”

Thank you.
