get through

I tried to talk to the customer service line of a company, but it took me about 25 min. to talk to their rep..

Is it Okay to say? "It's been long watiing, but eventually I got through" or "It's been long watiing, but eventually I got through to their represantative."

Thanks,

Hi,

Why 'Yes' ? Why 'No'? Need more explanations.

Can a native speaker confirm?

Thanks,

Note: There were typos: watiing ---> waiting; represantative --->representative.

Hi Guys,

Yes, either is OK.

You can say '...I got through' or '...I got through to Tom'. In the latter, you're just giving more information.

Best wishes, Clive

Hi meantolearn,

I think Danyoo's "no"s were in response to your use of "it's been long waiting". It could be argued that this form is gramatically acceptable, but it is not a normal phrase and sounds odd to a native speaker.

Hi meantolearn,

Yes, it's exactly as LeicesterLad has stated. I gave you my version "I had to wait a long time" which sounds more natural.
