''get'' structure

''This got me happy.''(adjective) -I've always seen this structure with an adjective but I came upon with one having a verb:

''This got me laughing.''(verb)

Is it right? If so,why the verb is used in the -ing form? Does this structure have a name?

Top answer

Yes, it's right. "get someone doing something" is a set pattern meaning to cause someone to start doing that action.
