What's the difference between get someone to (verb) and get someone (verb-ing)?
A. Use simple English phrases in daily life as frequently as possible so as to get him thinking in English
B. Use simple English phrases in daily life as frequently as possible so as to get him to think in English.
C. I will get her to tell the truth.
D. I will get her telling the truth.
Are the sentences above different in meaning? Does get have the meaning of "make" in the sentences above?

A and B mean practically the same. D is less likely and I would prefer C. To get someone to do something means to induce/persuade the person to carry out a complete action, while to get someone doing something means to get the person into that state or condition.
