Get practice (informal?)

Hi,

In my understanding, "a lot of" is more formal than "lots of" (both are used interchangeably, though).

I have noticed that "get lots of practice" is much more often used than "get a lot of practice" on the Internet. Then, does this mean that "get practice" is an informal expression??

If so, would you tell me another formal expression that is equivalent to "get practice"?

Thanks in advance.

Oh, it that so.. I have added "get practice" to my vocaburary list, but it would be better to delete it.
