Get out of the wardrobe

Hello everyone:)!

I wanted to ask if there was an expression to say when someone admits being homosexual.

Andrew - I am homosexual
Luis - Andrew got out of the wardrobe the other day (?)

Thanks in advance!

Luis seems to imply that Andrew is no longer so obssesed with the beautiful dress. Well, just guessing as there is no further context.

Hello whl626:)!

Thanks for answering my post, I just got the answer from someone:), the person said the correct idiom was "To come out of the closet".

Then, Andrew came out of the closet the other day.

Hello Eimai_Anglos!:)

Why should it be in that way? Do idioms have to go in inverted commas?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, unless you want the meaning to be taken literally.
