I have difficulty in understanding the phrase "get off your duff." The context in which this phrase is used is:

"You can't wish yourself to success. In other words, get off your duff and do something about your situation"

My dad uses this phrase all the time. Get off your duff means "get up and do something". It basically means to stop being lazy.
