get in/ out or get on/off

1. get on / off the elevator or get in/ out of the elevator? or both are fine?

2. Is there any difference between in the boat and on the boat?

3. Is there any difference between in the plane and on the plane?

1-- all are fine 2-- in a little, open boat; on a big boat or ship 3-- in = inside and on = as a passenger, but they are usually if not always interchangeable.
