Get for action or changing state?

Hello teachers,

My teacher taught me that we use 'get' when we want to make state into action.

The example he gave me is this:

I get sick.

On the internet a teacher said that we use 'get' for changing state.

For example:

I get sick.

I know that there are many uses of 'get' but I would like to know which explanation is correct.

So you are saying the conversion from one condition to another is the action right?
