Get down to work V set to work V set about to work

Hi,

I am having difficulty using these phrasal verbs.

Could somebody please help me (understand the nuances)?

(1) We need to complete all the previous assignments before we get down to the new job.

(2) We need to complete all the previous assignments before we get down to doing the new job.

Are (1) and (2) okay? Are they absolutely identical?

(3) My boss insists that I set about to this work immediately

(4) My boss insists that I set to this work immediately

(5) My boss insists that I immediately set about to doing this work

Which of (3) ...(5) are ok?

(6) We decided that we would take up this task/problem before the boss returned from his vacation

(7) We decided that we would attack this task/problem ...

Are (6) and (7) ok?

thank you!
