Get a document returned from an official

I am going to make an application and need to provide a document as a proof by post . As I am not sure whether the document will be returned to me after the completion of the application or they will keep it afterwards, I would like to attach a note to get the document returned from an official by writing:

"Please kindly return the document after the completion of the application if available."

Is it appropriate? Thanks.
