Grammar

gerunds or infinitives

Hello

I heard a song , the lyrics were

"Daddy was a bank robber, he loved to steal your money."
why it is not "he loved stealing "because if daddy was a thief he did it or has done it all of his life, it is not a possibility but a real fact , or does it mean it that it has stopped now stealing money.

Thanks

"why it is not "he loved stealing "because if daddy was a thief he did it or has done it all of his life, it is not a possibility but a real fact , or does it mean it that it has stopped now stealing money. None of those reasons; the infinitive was chosen for rhythm; either verb form will serve there synonymously.
