Ex1. The main apartment building looks new due to renovating last year.
Ex2. The main apartment building looks new due to renovation last year.
Ex3. The main apartment building looks new due to remodeling the last year/last year.
Ex4. The main apartment building looks new due to the remodeling last year.

Q. Are all of the above grammatically correct, meaning that the building now looks new because of the remodeling that took place last year?

Thanks in advance.

Some purists would still argue that 'due to' is used incorrectly in this case, but I think at this point, considering how widespread this usage is, you can just go ahead and use it all you want. I tend to avoid it myself, whenever possible, for fear of enraging a few grouchy grammar experts.
