Gerund phrase

"Waking to the buzz of the alarm clock, Sara cursed the arrival of another."
Is it correct to say this instead of "Sara waking to the buzz of..."?
"Shouting with happiness, Sara celebrated her graduation"
Is it okay to say this instead of "Sara shouting with happiness celebrated..."?
