Gerund or infinitive?

Which is the correct form?

Doug chose to quit rather than admit/admitting that he’d made a mistake.

Rather than criticizing/criticize your husband, why not find out if there’s something wrong?

Rather than admitting/admit he was wrong, he chose to quit.
