Gerund or Infinitive?

Hi Everybody!!

I have a doubt about using gerund or infinitive, which of the following sentences is correct and why...

1) Anna is so studious! I believe her to be the best student in class.
2) Anna is so studious! I believe her being the best student in class

Thank you in advance for your help.

Pedro Camargo, Welcome to the forum. I think these two sentences are not the best example for the question you have in mind. The first one sounds superfluous.
