gerund or infinitive

Could you check my examples of using gerund or infinitiv?

Do you remerber leaving your first school? (talking about past)

Rememer to clean yout teath! (talking about future)

I stopped smoking.

I used to smoke but I stop to feel better. I had been cooking and I stopped to pick up the phone.

John proposed going to the debate. (=suggest)

The Goverment proposes to bring in new laws. (=intend)

I´m not sure of "try", I appreciate if you could explain it to me:

I tried walking with crutches.

I try not to stare at him so excitedly.

Rememer to clean yout teath! (talking about future) Remember to clean your teeth! (yes, this means in the future) (I think people usually say "brush" your teeth.)
