Gerund + Gerund

1. "I'm enjoying playing chess."

2. "They're finishing working in the garden."

3. "They're avoiding going on holiday on Saturdays."

Is it completely fine and common to turn the 1st verb into gerund next to another one, or would it only make they sound awkward which means it would be best to avoid it?

Thank you
