Gerund

Jhon is fishing.
It's a present progressive sentence. And beside here, "fishing" is a gerund. Which is main verb & auxiliary verb?
Here, my question is that, Does every progressive sentence have "Gerund"?

Fishing is funny.
Here, "fishing" is a gerund.
I have a boring teacher. Here, I guess "is" & "have" are main verb

Your writing skill is good. Here, Your= Pronoun, Writing= Gerund, Skill= noun, Is= Verb, Good= Adjective.
Am I right?

Yes, I have understood that, here, 'fish' is not a verb but 'fishing' has worked here as a verb.
